What a year 1923 was for the Weimar Republic. From impossible reparations to French occupations, to communist and fascist revolts, to hyperinflation, 1923 wore down Germans entirely. In this video, Andrew breaks down Volker Ullrich's book, Germany 1923: Hyperinflation, Hitler's Putsch, and Democracy in crisis. This was Andrew's first deep dive into how the Nazis were able to rise to power in Germany. This book was highly informative and helps paint a real picture of how bad events were in Germany post WW1.
